In his opening remarks, Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, Provost of the College of Education, commended the department for organising such an insightful programme and encouraged inviting more sports leaders in the future. Prof. James Sefe Dzisah, Dean of the School of Education and Leadership, in his brief remarks, expressed his excitement, noting that engagements like this inspire both students and faculty to rethink approaches to leadership, education, and talent development.

A Presentation to Coach Addo

Coach Addo shared his experiences, focusing on nurturing young players during the critical transition into first-team football. He emphasised the importance of blending sports with education and using evidence-based approaches to develop winning mindsets. “Football has moved beyond just playing on the field. It’s also about learning beyond the field,” he said. The lecture included practical insights on player profiling, talent management, and building effective coach-athlete relationships. Coach Addo encouraged coaches to create open, supportive environments and urged students to embrace constructive feedback.

Prof. Annabella Osei-Tutu, Head of the Department, said students were highly motivated by Coach Addo’s presentation and assured that such engagements would continue, including short programmes to nurture young talents into professional athletes.

Faculty, Staff, Students and guests

The colloquium concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, leaving students and staff inspired and better equipped to explore opportunities in the sports industry.

Dr. Doris Tay, on behalf of the Department, thanked Coach Addo, university officials, and all participants for making the event a success.
